Our Mission…
Is to utilize the medium of filmmaking to foster inventiveness and the camaraderie of teamwork. We create a space where students are invited to voice their input and bring their imagination to the drawing board. Students will be involved in all aspects that go into bringing their vision into fruition. Above all else, we want our students to have fun!
Meet Our Teachers
Devan Mulvaney
Co-Founder and Lead Teacher
Devan grew up in a family of creatives. When he was young his parents created a musical theater camp. Each session started with them choosing a classic fairy or folk tale. After presenting the story to the group it was up to the kids to come up with the script, the characters, paint the set, create props, make their costumes, learn the songs Devan’s parents wrote and perform the show in front of an audience within two weeks. Every child who attended was filled with an incredible sense of creative accomplishment. It’s one thing to reenact a famous musical or play, it’s a whole other to create one from the ground up.
This concept is Devan’s main focus for the School of Film. He believes that if you give creative freedom to children they will come up with something adults never could. He believes that the best place to start being an artist is in a safe and fun environment. In his mind there is no better a place for a child to find their inner artist than one where they are exposed to every aspect that makes a film come together.
Devan studied filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. He’s been the lead teacher at the Austin School of Film, The Ghetto Film School, Reel Works Teen Filmmaking, the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism along with being a counselor at numerous camps his parents created. He’s made videos for Oprah’s YouTube channel, Perry Ellis, Ace Hotel and more. Devan is also a singer songwriter.
